Glow Series Terms of Service

Effective 14 October 2026 · Last updated 14 October 2026

1. Introduction

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Glow Series, including Glow Scribe and Glow Insight (collectively, the “Services”), provided by Glow Technologies, LLC (“Glow,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Glow Series provides educational writing tools intended to support student writing, independent thinking, and educators’ understanding of the writing process.

The Services are designed for school-managed use. By accessing or using the Services, an authorized school representative agrees to these Terms on behalf of the school or educational institution, to the extent that representative has authority to do so. Students may use the Services only as authorized by their participating school or teacher.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Services.

2. Eligibility and School-Managed Access

Glow Series is intended for students whose access is managed by a participating school or teacher. Students are not authorized to create independent personal accounts or use the Services outside the school-managed arrangement unless Glow expressly authorizes that use in writing.

Teachers may provide access to Glow Scribe through links attached to assignments in Google Classroom. The school or teacher is responsible for determining which students may access those assignments and the Services.

Schools and teachers are responsible for ensuring that their use of Glow complies with applicable laws, school policies, and any separate agreement entered into with Glow.

3. Description of the Services

Glow Scribe provides a controlled writing environment in which students can complete writing assignments. Depending on the features in use, the Services may record writing activity, including text entered, typing activity, revisions, deletions, backspaces, copy-and-paste events, and periods of inactivity.

Glow Insight provides tools for authorized school users to review student writing and writing-process information.

The Services may include writing-process analytics or indicators intended to help educators review how written work was produced. Such indicators are informational tools and are not definitive proof of plagiarism, artificial-intelligence use, or academic misconduct.

Glow may add, modify, or discontinue features as the Services develop. We will not represent a feature as available if it has not been implemented.

4. Google Classroom and Third-Party Services

Glow may be used alongside Google Classroom when a teacher attaches a Glow link to a Classroom assignment.

Google Classroom and any other third-party platforms are provided by their respective providers and are subject to their own terms, policies, and availability. Glow does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their independent operation, changes, or interruptions.

The presence of a Glow link in Google Classroom does not mean that Google sponsors, endorses, or is responsible for Glow Series.

Users must comply with applicable third-party terms when accessing those services.

5. School and Teacher Responsibilities

Schools and teachers are responsible for:

  • Managing student access to the Services.
  • Determining whether the Services are appropriate for their students and educational purposes.
  • Providing any notices to students, parents, or guardians required by applicable law or school policy.
  • Obtaining any legally required permissions or consents before student information is collected or processed.
  • Ensuring that their use of the Services complies with applicable privacy, education, and student-protection laws.
  • Limiting access to student writing and writing-process records to appropriately authorized individuals.
  • Reviewing Glow’s outputs and indicators in context rather than treating them as conclusive findings.
  • Making independent decisions regarding grading, academic integrity, and student discipline.

Schools and teachers should not rely solely on an automated indicator or writing-process record to make consequential decisions about a student.

6. Student Writing and Ownership

Students retain whatever rights they have in the writing and other content they create using the Services (“Student Content”).

To provide the Services, Glow must be able to host, store, reproduce, process, and display Student Content as reasonably necessary for the intended educational functionality of Glow Scribe and Glow Insight.

Accordingly, subject to these Terms and any applicable written school agreement, the school and its authorized users grant Glow a limited, non-exclusive right to process Student Content for the purpose of providing, maintaining, and supporting the Services.

Glow does not claim ownership of Student Content merely because it is submitted to or stored in the Services.

Schools and teachers are responsible for ensuring that they have the authority to submit or authorize the processing of content provided through the Services.

7. Student Information and Writing-Process Data

To provide the Services, Glow stores student writing and writing-process data. Depending on the features used, this information may include written content and records of writing activity.

Student writing and writing-process records may be accessed by authorized school users and authorized Glow personnel, as applicable to the operation and support of the Services.

Based on the current practices confirmed by Glow’s development team:

  • Glow does not send student writing to external artificial-intelligence or plagiarism-detection providers.
  • Glow does not use student writing to train or improve artificial-intelligence models.

These statements describe the current practices confirmed for the Services. Any material change to data practices must be addressed through applicable notices, policies, and agreements.

The detailed practices governing personal information—including the specific categories collected, purposes of use, disclosures, security measures, retention, and deletion—must be described in Glow’s Privacy Policy and any applicable school agreement. These Terms do not establish data-handling practices that have not yet been confirmed.

8. Data Access and Deletion Requests

Schools manage student access to the Services. Student writing and writing-process records are intended to be accessible to authorized school users and authorized Glow personnel.

When a school stops using Glow, the school may request deletion of its student data by contacting Glow at the email address in Section 20.

Glow will handle deletion requests in accordance with applicable law, its applicable data-handling procedures, and any written agreement with the school.

Deletion details to be finalized before publication: Glow must document the process for submitting and verifying requests, the applicable deletion timeline, treatment of backups, and any exceptions that may apply. These Terms do not promise immediate or automatic deletion.

9. Acceptable Use

The Services may be used only for lawful educational purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

Users must not:

  • Use the Services unlawfully or to violate another person’s rights.
  • Attempt to access the Services, accounts, systems, or student data without authorization.
  • Interfere with the security, integrity, or operation of the Services.
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the Services.
  • Access, disclose, or use student writing or writing-process records without authorization.
  • Reverse engineer, copy, or misuse the Services except where applicable law permits or Glow authorizes the activity in writing.
  • Misrepresent the meaning or reliability of Glow’s writing-process information or indicators.
  • Use the Services in a manner that violates applicable school policies or law.

Glow may investigate suspected misuse and may restrict access where reasonably necessary to protect the Services, their users, or student information.

10. Writing Analysis and Educational Decisions

Glow may provide writing-process information, analytics, or indicators to assist educators in reviewing student work.

Such information may be incomplete, may require interpretation, and may not establish why a particular writing pattern occurred. An indicator is not, by itself, a definitive determination that a student used artificial intelligence, plagiarized content, or engaged in academic misconduct.

Schools and teachers are responsible for reviewing relevant evidence, considering context, following their own policies, and making educational or disciplinary decisions. Glow is not responsible for decisions made independently by a school or teacher based on information from the Services.

11. Intellectual Property

Glow and its licensors retain all rights in the Services, including the software, design, interface, branding, documentation, and related intellectual property, except for content and rights belonging to users or other third parties.

Subject to these Terms, Glow grants participating schools and their authorized users a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Services for their intended educational purposes while access is authorized.

No other rights are granted by implication.

12. Beta and Pilot Services

Glow Series is currently offered in beta or pilot form. The Services and their features may be incomplete, may change, and may have limited availability.

During the beta or pilot period:

  • Features may be modified, added, or discontinued.
  • The Services may contain errors or experience interruptions.
  • Performance and functionality may change as Glow evaluates and improves the Services.
  • Glow may request feedback to help evaluate the Services.

Participation in a pilot does not guarantee that a feature will remain available or that the Services will be released commercially on a particular date.

Schools remain responsible for deciding whether the Services are appropriate for their intended educational use.

13. Availability, Suspension, and Termination

Glow may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Services where reasonably necessary for maintenance, development, security, legal compliance, or other operational reasons.

Glow may suspend or terminate access where reasonably necessary to address misuse, security concerns, violations of these Terms, legal obligations, or risks to the Services or their users.

A school may discontinue its use of the Services, subject to any separate written agreement. A school that stops using Glow may request deletion of its student data as described in Section 8.

Termination does not eliminate obligations that by their nature should continue, including applicable provisions concerning intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution.

14. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Services are provided on an “as available” basis. Glow does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or that the Services will meet every school’s particular requirements.

Glow does not warrant that writing-process information or indicators will always be complete, accurate, or conclusive. The Services are not a substitute for educator judgment, school procedures, or professional review.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Glow will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost opportunities, or loss of data, arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms.

These limitations apply only to the extent permitted by law and do not limit liability that cannot legally be limited. Any different allocation of responsibility in a separate written agreement will be governed by that agreement.

16. Responsibility for Claims

Each party remains responsible for its own acts and omissions and for its compliance with applicable law.

Any indemnification obligation or allocation of responsibility for third-party claims should be established in a written agreement appropriate to the parties involved and reviewed by legal counsel. Nothing in these Terms requires a student or other individual to assume an obligation that applicable law prohibits or that the individual has no legal authority to accept.

17. Privacy and Data Protection

Use of the Services is also subject to Glow’s Privacy Policy.

Schools using Glow with student information may need a separate written agreement addressing data protection, confidentiality, access, retention, deletion, and applicable educational privacy laws.

If these Terms conflict with a separate written agreement between Glow and a school regarding student information or data protection, the separate agreement will control to the extent of the conflict.

18. Changes to These Terms

Glow may revise these Terms from time to time. Revised Terms will be posted with an updated “Last Updated” date. Where required by law, Glow will provide additional notice or obtain consent before material changes take effect.

Continued use of the Services after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Any dispute-resolution or venue provision will be subject to applicable law. The parties may establish additional dispute-resolution terms in a separate written agreement.
