GlowTech

Two students hand in
the same essay.
Only one of them wrote it.

A finished document tells you almost nothing about who did the thinking. We build tools that record the writing process — typing, pauses, pastes, revisions — and hand teachers a clear account of how the work came together.

The problem

Homework stopped measuring learning

Generative AI arrived in schools faster than any policy could follow it. A student can now produce a competent essay on almost any topic in under a minute, and it will read better than the one they would have written themselves.

The result is a quiet collapse in the value of written work. Teachers still set essays, reports and reflections, but they can no longer be confident that the sentences in front of them came from the person whose name is on them. Marks stop describing what a student understands. Feedback lands on writing nobody wrote.

And the students who lean on it hardest lose the most. Drafting an argument, getting it wrong, and fixing it is not busywork on the way to the finished page — it is the learning. Skip it often enough and the skill never forms.

We think school students should be using far less AI in their assignments than they do today. Not because the technology is bad, but because a fifteen-year-old outsourcing their first argumentative essay is trading away something they cannot buy back later.

What we make

One product, two sides of the desk

Glow Insight sits on top of Google Classroom. Teachers install a browser extension; students write in a web app built for the task. The two halves talk to each other so nothing has to be exported, uploaded or chased.

For teachers — Chrome extension

Glow Insight

Adds a Create with Glow button to Classwork, then returns an academic integrity report on every submission: an overall score, copy-paste and plagiarism levels, AI suspicion, and a replay of the whole writing session in the document itself.

For students — web app

GlowScribe

A clean writing space with the assignment brief at the top, a word count at the bottom and autosave throughout. Students open it from the Classroom link, write, and hand in. The work goes straight back to the teacher's Classroom — no file to attach or forget.

The company

Built for classrooms, in classrooms

GlowTech is a small software company working on academic integrity in the age of generative AI. We build for the people who actually mark the work: the teacher with five classes, thirty essays a week and no appetite for another dashboard to check.

Everything we ship starts in a real classroom and goes back to one. Teachers tell us where the guesswork is, we build the smallest thing that removes it, and we throw away the features they never open.

We are opinionated about one thing in particular: students deserve to be given the benefit of the doubt, and teachers deserve better than a probability score to base that judgement on. Every product decision we make comes back to that.
